Welcome to the hawthorn webpage we hope you will find it interesting and informative. IF you haven't dined with us before, we hope you will.

the hawthorn - FOR CASUAL DINING AT ITS BEST

We opened our doors in May 2000,and have been serving drinks and great meals for 9 years. We estimate that we have served over 400,000 main meals + starters and desserts up to March 2009.
Having a Public House licence means we can sell alcohol without having to provide a meal, although to our customers we seen as a restaurant, bistro or gastro pub.
We like to just use ‘the Hawthorn’ and let you decide what you want us to be.

All our meals are prepared by our brigade of chefs (6 in total) and use only the
freshest and finest quality ingredients we can find. Meals are prepared and cooked to order, so inevitably at busy times you may have to wait a bit longer than normal. We don't plate up in advance and heat meals in a microwave, as many food outlets do.

Many food outlets advertise 'Home cooked food' that generally only means that it is food bought in either frozen or pre-packed and heated up in an oven or microwave and does not mean "HOME MADE".

We make ALL our meals from scratch so when we say HOME MADE we mean it.

If you have limited time, then please advise us, or better still, pre-order and we will get your meal to you quickly as we can.

As all meals are cooked and prepared to order, dietary or allergy problems are easily catered for.

Special occasions, groups, small weddings (up to 36 guests) catered for.
We can cater for any size group up to 55 persons at one sitting, either choosing from our normal menu or we can devise a special menu to suit the occasion and/or the budget.
We are happy for you to bring your own celebration cake with you (no charge) and decorate the table as you wish.

Many restaurants ADD a 10% service charge for groups of 8 or more .This seems like a penalty for bringing them more business, a practice which I have never understood.
We do not add a service charge to your bill, but allow you to decide if the servicehas warranted it.
ALL gratuities are shared between the kitchen and waiting staff.

We understand that Senior Adults & children do not always have the same appetite as others so we have a menu to suit, smaller prices, smaller portions.

During the week, Monday to Saturday 12 noon to 5.45 we also have a Bar menu in addition to our normal menu.

We also have a selection of "Daily Specials" and on Sundays our specials are traditional Sunday roasts.

Table reservation are recommend, (especially at traditionally busy times, such as; Friday. Saturday nights, Sunday lunch. Bank holidays and Mothers Day etc...) BUT are not always necessary. lf you turn-up without booking and we're busy if you are prepared to wait a few minutes, sit at the bar and have a drink, we can usually find a table for you.

Why not give your friends or family a treat for their special occasion. Buy them aHawthorn gift voucher. Vouchers to suit every budget
Prices range from £5 upwards.

Something NEW Onward & Upward

We are building on our reputation. literally. Plans have been approved for a building extension this mean a bigger kitchen and storeroom area for us.
And for you new modern toilet facilities, and new floor added above the existing Dining area (Douglas side, carpet area/toilet) to create a modern dining/function area with full length sliding patio doors leading to a South facing outside patio area overlooking the Foxdale hills.
We will then be able to cater for Weddings, functions, business meeting and dinner dances etc..
